Everything you need to build a standout resume, target job descriptions with AI, and walk into every interview prepared.
Getting Started
Create your account and build your first resume in minutes.
Creating an account
Go to nailhiring.app and click Get started free. Sign up with your email address and a password, or continue with Google for one-click access. A verification email will be sent to confirm your address before you can log in.
Dashboard overview
After signing in you land on the Builder Home dashboard. This is your central hub for all resume projects:
- Resume cards — each card shows the project name, last-edited date, and the active template thumbnail. Click a card to reopen the wizard.
- + New Resume — starts the creation flow to name your project and choose a starting method.
- Workspaces — optional folders to group resumes by employer, industry, or role. Create one from the sidebar.
- Profile menu (bottom-left avatar) — access Settings, Documentation, Help, and Sign Out.
Creating your first resume
Click + New Resume and follow the two-step flow:
- Name your project — give it a descriptive name like "Google SWE 2025" so you can find it later.
- Choose a starting method:
- Build from scratch — opens the wizard with a blank slate. Best for tailoring a fresh resume for a specific role.
- Upload existing resume (PDF / DOCX) — our parser extracts your content and imports it directly into the editor, saving you the re-entry work.
- Choose a template first — browse the gallery and pick a design before filling in content. Useful when visual style is the priority.
Resume Wizard
Fill in your resume section by section, with real-time preview as you type.
The wizard is the core editor. It has two panes: a left rail with tools and a right pane that shows a live preview of your resume rendering in the selected template. Every change you make is reflected instantly in the preview.
Left rail tabs
The left rail gives you access to all tools available inside the wizard:
Resume sections
The Candidate Details rail tab exposes all resume sections in a step-by-step form. Fill them in order or jump to any section using the left navigation:
Name, contact, headline, summary
Work history & responsibilities
Degrees, institutions, GPA
Grouped skills & proficiencies
Technical & personal projects
Impact, leadership & management
Licenses & professional certs
Recognitions & achievements
Languages, courses, portfolio
AI Writer toolbar
Every rich text field (summary, job descriptions, project bullets) has an AI Writer button in its toolbar. Click it to pick from pre-built prompts tailored to that field — for example, a bullet-point generator for experience entries that outputs action-verb-led, quantified achievements. Select a prompt and the AI drafts the copy; you can edit it freely before saving.
Live preview
The right pane renders your resume in the selected template at full fidelity. Changes appear as you type — no save button required. You can also click directly on any section in the preview to jump to the corresponding form field.
AI Agent
Paste a job description and get targeted, section-by-section resume suggestions.
The AI Agent (the tab) is the primary AI tailoring tool. It reads your current resume and a job description you provide, then generates precise suggestions to make your resume more competitive for that specific role.
How to use it
- Open any resume project and click the AI Agent tab in the left rail.
- Paste the full job description into the input field (or type a brief description of the role).
- Click Tailor my resume. The agent streams suggestions grouped by resume section — summary rewrites, bullet improvements, skill additions, and keyword insertions.
- Review each suggestion: click Accept to apply it to your resume, or Skip to ignore it. You can also Accept all to apply every suggestion at once.
- After applying suggestions, review the live preview to confirm the changes look right.
What the AI suggests
- Summary rewrite — rewrites your professional summary to mirror the language and priorities in the JD.
- Bullet improvements — strengthens existing experience bullets with action verbs, quantification, and role-relevant keywords.
- Skill additions — identifies skills mentioned in the JD that are absent from your Skills section and proposes adding them if you have that experience.
- Keyword insertion — embeds missing but relevant terms naturally into your content to improve ATS pass-through rates.
ATS Score Analyzer
Find out exactly which keywords are missing from your resume before you apply.
Most companies use an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to filter resumes before a human ever reads them. The ATS Score Analyzer shows you a match percentage and identifies the specific keywords and phrases the ATS is likely looking for — so you know precisely what to add.
Running an analysis
- Click the ATS Score tab (Gauge icon) in the left rail of the wizard.
- Paste the full job description into the input field.
- Click Analyze ATS Score. The engine processes your resume against the JD in a few seconds.
- Review the results dashboard showing your overall score, matched keywords, and missing keywords.
Understanding your results
- Overall score — a percentage representing how well your resume's language aligns with the job description's key terms.
- Keyword match — terms from the JD that already appear in your resume, shown in green.
- Missing keywords — high-value terms present in the JD but absent from your resume, shown in red. These are your most actionable improvements.
AI Interviewer
Practice answering interview questions tailored to the role you're targeting.
The AI Interviewer generates a set of likely interview questions based on your resume content and the job description. It simulates a real interview so you can rehearse your answers before the actual conversation.
How to use it
- Click the AI Interviewer tab (Monitor icon) in the left rail.
- If you haven't already pasted a job description in the AI Agent or ATS tab, you'll be prompted to add one — the questions are tailored to both your resume and the target role.
- The interviewer presents questions one at a time. Type your answer and submit it.
- After answering, the AI evaluates your response and gives structured feedback: what was strong, what was missing, and a suggested improved answer.
Question types covered
- Behavioural — "Tell me about a time when…" questions based on your experience entries.
- Technical — role-specific questions drawn from the skills and technologies listed in the JD.
- Situational — hypothetical scenarios relevant to the responsibilities described in the job posting.
- Motivation & fit — questions about why you're interested in the role and what you bring to the team.
Application Readiness
A holistic view of how ready your application package is before you hit Submit.
The Application Readiness panel (Target icon) aggregates signals from across all wizard tools — AI Agent suggestions applied, ATS Score, and interview preparation — into a single readiness view.
What it shows
- Readiness checklist — a list of recommended actions with their completion status: tailoring applied, ATS score above threshold, interview practiced, resume completeness.
- Improvement plan — prioritised actions ranked by impact, so you always know the next most valuable thing to do.
- Confidence signal — a high-level summary of how competitive your application is for the role.
Design
Choose from 37 professional templates and customise colours to match your style.
The Design tab (Palette icon) opens the full template gallery. Every template is ATS-safe — clean, machine-readable formatting with no tables, text boxes, or graphics that confuse parsers.
Browsing templates
Templates are organised into five categories:
- Professional — traditional, clean layouts suited to corporate, finance, and consulting roles.
- Modern — contemporary single-column and two-column designs with refined typography.
- Sidebar — two-pane layouts with a coloured left sidebar for skills and contact info.
- Creative — bolder designs with accent colours, suited to marketing, design, and product roles.
- Academic — CV-style layouts for researchers, academics, and postgraduate applications.
Switching templates
Click any template card in the gallery to switch instantly. Your content — every field you've filled in — transfers automatically. The live preview on the right updates in real time so you can compare templates side by side without committing.
Accent colours
Most templates support a choice of accent colours (headings, rule lines, sidebar background). Select from the colour swatches shown beneath each template card. The change applies immediately in the preview.
Export
Download a pixel-perfect, ATS-safe PDF ready to submit.
The Export tab (Download icon) handles all downloading options. nailHiring generates a clean PDF directly from your resume data — not a browser screenshot — ensuring crisp text, correct fonts, and ATS readability.
Downloading your PDF
- Click the Export tab in the left rail, or click the download icon at the top of the live preview pane.
- Optionally toggle 1 Page / Compact if you want to fit everything onto a single page.
- Click Download PDF. The file is generated and saved to your browser's default download location.
One-page compact mode
The compact toggle slightly reduces vertical spacing between sections and between bullet points to squeeze the content onto one page. The preview updates to match exactly what will be exported, so what you see is what you get.
Export tips
- Name your PDF clearly before sending — recruiters receive hundreds of files. "FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf" is a safe convention.
- Run the ATS Score Analyzer before exporting to confirm your keyword match is strong.
- If your resume overflows to a second page unexpectedly, try a more compact template from the Design gallery or reduce the length of your bullet points.

Manage your profile, plan, preferences, and account security.
